Who am I?

Hello!

I am Siddhesh Sali

I always wondered how the electronic devices worked and hence, as a kid, I got into making electronic projects and coding. At IIT Bombay (Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai), I studied Electrical Engineering. I have a passion for programming, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning. Computer Vision, GANs, and Multimodal Learning are some of my areas of interest. I’ve been involved in a number of hardware, software and research projects. I fact, my final year Research Thesis was based on Multimodal Learning (Deep Metric Learning and OOD Detection)

In addition, I like to take pictures, to travel, and hike. I enjoy photographing nature and wildlife because I find the natural world to be so beautiful. I really love taking portraits because it allows me to capture special moments and convey the tale of a day, a person, or an object. I started capturing pictures in 2015, when I was in Highschool. A friend of mine brought his fancy DSLR camera to the school, that’s when I realized I had a special connection with the camera. I borrowed his camera and brought it along on my family trip to Kashmir, and captured my first awesome photos.

I enjoy Chess

Why? Because it’s simply absorbing, because it stimulates my brain to think of genius ideas to win. Chess has a quality that sets it apart from nearly all other games in that you simply cannot stop thinking about it.
 
When you play well, you feel like a genius.
When you play terribly, you feel like a complete idiot.
Hey, at least you feel something.

I love Food

I enjoy both cooking and eating. One of my favourite cuisines is Japanese. I cooked a lot of dishes during lockdown, including Cheesecake, Different types of east Asian noodles, Penne Arrabbiata, Macaroni and Cheese Pasta, Pizza (Homemade Base and Mozzarella cheese), Japanese Tofu dishes, Cheese Balls, Doughnuts, Pancakes, Fried Chicken. Plus, I got (really deep) into coffee making 🙂

I like VFX and CGI

Although I am not an expert, I have some experience with modelling, texturing, rigging, and animation in Blender. Additionally, I have some VFX and simulation skills.

I adore Anime

Everything about anime is fantastic: The Artwork, The Storytelling, The Music, The Voice Acting, and, of course, The Animation.
 
Anime has a significant advantage over live-action films due to its nearly limitless possibilities. It provides artists a great deal of freedom to do things that simply won’t work in other formats. Western animation doesn’t even come close to offering the same amount of artistic flexibility as anime.
